Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 2-year-old son has tooth pain. He has been suggested pulpectomy or extraction. Which one is better?

Kindly suggest.

Answered by Dr. Naveen Thomas

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The best option at two years of age is going for a pulpectomy to save the tooth and retain the space until the permanent tooth erupts. Extraction is not recommended at such an early age.

I hope this helps.

Do revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the shared pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). A pulpectomy is the best solution so that the permanent tooth grows correctly at around seven years. Also, there is a risk of the permanent tooth erupting in a different position due to lack of space.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
