Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have issues with maxillary sinusitis, a nasal polyp, and chronic hepatitis B. A monkey had scratched me. The scratch was on the thumb of my right hand, which was not deep and covered only a 2 mm area with minor bleeding, which was not even flowing out of the wound. I was given a rabies vaccine on days one, three, and seven. My last dose of vaccine is due in 28 days. After taking the rabies vaccine, I have had persistent flu and headache for the past eight days. Why so?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern. I appreciate that you have taken the rabies vaccine, as most people deny it and avoid taking the shot. Also, having a fever and headache following vaccination is normal. So do not worry about that. Also, I would like to clarify that, regardless of the monkey's health, you must take the last dose and complete the vaccination course, as it is mandatory.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
