Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an issue regarding my gums. For the past few days, I have been feeling that my gums are becoming weak and thin as they are leaving my teeth and going down from my teeth. I want to say that a part of the teeth which is hidden under gum is showing. I am a smoker and I am already trying to leave it. Please suggest me some treatment. I usually brush once daily.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have been through your query and I can understand your concern.

Receding gums can be a problem associated with many factors. It is known as the recession of gums. I would like to know if you have a habit of brushing your teeth hard. Smoking causes stains on teeth and there could be the urge to remove these stains by brushing hard on the tooth surface leading to the recession of gums.

I would like you to have an appointment with your nearest dentist in order to get the teeth cleaned (scaling) properly and also to assess the severity of the recession so that the treatment can be done accordingly. Meanwhile, I would also advise you to brush with a soft or ultra soft-bristled toothbrush twice daily and also floss daily. Also do not scrub the brush onto the teeth hard, be gentle while brushing. I would love to hear from you regarding the follow-ups.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
