Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had what seems to be two pimple spots appear on my chest today. I will submit some images of them. Do they look like pimples or spots, and what can I do about them? I can feel the bumps on my skin, which are red. I had had similar spots and pimples all over my skin before, for which I had applied steroid creams. Currently, I am on the tablet Levothyroxine.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Please answer the following questions.

1. Do you have any itching in the lesion?

2. Do you have any allergies to specific things?

3. Is the spot present elsewhere in the body?

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

There is no itching, and these spots are not present anywhere else on the body. I have allergies to codeine and pineapple, and I have not had those. However, my skin is prone to acne and eczema.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

On a close look at the image provided (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), there is erythema and minute elevation or bump on the skin. It appears to be an allergic reaction. Etiology cannot be determined at this moment. But do not worry. There are no symptoms present as of now, and it is also not present elsewhere in the body, which suggests no generalized allergic manifestation. It would subside with local application of steroid cream and, if necessary oral antihistamine medication. As you have mentioned, your skin is prone to acne and eczema, so you need to take care of it. Also, prevent sunlight exposure.

I would suggest the following:

1. Apply Hydrocortisone 1 % ointment twice daily for three to five days. Avoid ointment application if the lesion subsides within a day or two.

2. If itching occurs, take the tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg daily once before bedtime for three days only.

However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
