Hi doctor,
Can foam earplugs be inserted too deeply? I used to insert ear plug in my ears but the instruction video says that if they are fitted properly, then someone looking at you from the front should not be able to see the ear plug. When I inserted the one in my left ear pretty far but It is still slightly visible, and I cannot get it into my right ear nearly as far and it sticks out a bit more. I will try opening my mouth next time. I have read that inserting ear plugs too far can damage the eardrum, and I obviously do not want to do that. When I began forcing in my right ear, I heard a sharp ringing that instantly went away when I stopped forcing. Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query,
The main purpose of the ear plug is to protect your hearing from getting damaged. They are perfectly inserted even though you cannot hear the sound. Additionally, every ear canal is of different shapes and size. Thus the fitting will be different. Of course, if you push the plugs far deeply, it may harm your ear drum. If the plug is visible as your ear canal opening may be small.
Thank you.
