Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I started had a ringworm infection on my back and I have been using Canesten cream. But now it is darkening and spreading to my belly and have found one on my forehead today. I have changed my sheets and have been washing my hands after applying creams and it is still not going away. It has been there for a months now. I suffer with body dysmorphia so it is really upsetting me. What can I do to stop it from spreading, I am also really worried it will spread to scalp.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Fungal infection indeed is very problematic if it becomes recurrent. First of all, you keep these precautions in mind:

  1. Do not keep the area wet at all. Use powder frequently to keep it dry
  2. Avoid itching and do not scratch it
  3. Change the undergarments
  4. Do not apply general or steroid cream.
  5. Do not stop the medicine once you are cured. Continue medicine for a long time to completely kill the fungal.
  6. Avoid excessively sweaty and wet clothes.
  7. Now treatment part

    1. Ketoconazole (antifungal) cream tab terbinafine 250 mg for two months.
    2. Terbinafine cream (Fluconazole) 150 mg twice a week for two months.
    3. For itching take the tablet Levocetirizine 10 mg twice a day.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
