Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

One month ago a bat accidentally hit me on my front tooth and it became blue but it is not paining. Some dentists are saying that I have to get root canal treatment but I insist any other treatment. Please tell me what is the solution to aid my tooth as soon as possible. Currently, I have taken homeopathic medicine. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Considering your age, the front tooth should be a permanent tooth. You have mentioned it has turned blue and no pain which indicates that the blood supply to the tooth is stopped hence it is like a dead tooth. Since it is the front one, it is foremost important to retain the tooth for aesthetics. So to do that, a root canal treatment is the best option to stick with where the vital part of the tooth is cleaned and filled with a medication to prevent infection in the future and then a filling or crown is placed to cover up the discoloration. If you are seeking for other options, then leaving the tooth just like that is what I suggest. But in this case, you should be alright with the discoloration of the tooth. If you wish to have your normal pearly smile back, I advise you choose a root canal treatment. Thank you.
