Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have random swelling in my neck for quite a long period. But it has improved with time. However, it is persisting.

I am currently on medications for scoliosis. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I hope you are not in much discomfort. The x-ray is reviewed (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

There are mild osteophytes in the superior anterior part of the C6 vertebral body, and it is a mild degenerative change and not a serious concern.

The x-ray does not show any obvious swelling, and I request you to send more information on the area of the swelling and a photo of the area if it is possible.

The prevertebral soft tissues appear normal. The pharyngeal air column shows no filling defect or mass lesion. Scoliosis is not well visualized in the given x-ray image.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the file. These are the rest of the x-rays. Noticeable abdominal swelling also persists along with bruising on legs that were not caused by physical trauma.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please find the x-ray findings below.

1.This is showing an AP (anteroposterior) view of the atlantooccipital joint and is normal.

2.This x-ray shows the neck with mild soft tissue asymmetry prominent on the right. It is essential to know if the swelling you mentioned previously is on the right. Otherwise, it can also be from positional asymmetry due to scoliosis.

3.This is showing the thoracic spine with convexity to the right at T5-T6 vertebral levels.

4.This is a lateral x-ray of the spine and not showing any serious concerns.

5.This is showing the lumbar spine AP view and scoliosis with convexity to the left at L2 vertebral level.

For non-traumatic bruises, you need to get platelet count, blood tests, and the coagulation profile. Liver function tests are important.

Patient's Query

Yes the swelling is on the right.

Hi, Thanks for writing in to us. The xray is showing the increased soft tissue on the right of the neck and is due to the swelling mentioned. The swelling is not clearly visualised in the xray and needs to be evaluated by an ultrasound scan or CT and MRI scan to study in detail. Regards,
