Hi doctor,
I am a control room operator and I work alone. I work for twelve hours in rotating shifts. Usually, seven nights in a row with two days off and then seven days in a row with two days off. I normally sleep for seven hours at night. Throughout the day I go through debilitating bouts of sleepiness. This makes me hard to drive and I am unable to work or focus on tasks. Additionally, I am getting frequent hot flashes and dizzy spells. I also feel depressed sometimes. I have no other health issues. I consulted the doctor and he prescribed me Meclizine for dizziness and antibiotics. My BP was 140 by 90 mm Hg.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
If you do not have an infection, you do not need an antibiotic. You have not mentioned the reason for having antibiotics. There are a number of reasons for having fatigue. It can be due to inadequate diet since you have mentioned that your job is very demanding. You also seem to be depressed sometimes. You might be suffering from depression also. It can also cause constant fatigue. You need to consult a counselor and it will be helpful. If possible, get the below mentioned blood tests done.
You need to do a complete blood count, ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), and Iron profile.
Differential diagnosis:Other reasons can be iron deficiency anemia and depression
Treatment plan:You need to take a well-balanced diet with B complex vitamin tablets daily one tablet in the morning. Go for counseling if there is a need.
