Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Would my penis be considered small if it is 6.1 inches long when erect, with a girth of 5 inches and a width of 1.7 inches?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The measurements of your penis are completely normal. In fact, the dimensions you have provided are very close to the average values reported in the medical literature.

It is also worth noting that men with an average-sized penis often worry more about their size than men who actually have a clinically small penis. Additionally, when penile length is measured professionally, the recorded measurement is often greater than what men measure themselves. This is because a portion of the penis extends internally into the body, farther than many people realize. As a result, your true anatomical length may be slightly greater than your self-measured length and could be above the international average.

More importantly, penis size is generally not a significant factor in sexual satisfaction or in how partners perceive sexual relationships. Female sexual pleasure is not directly related to penile size. Although there is considerable publicity surrounding penis-enlargement methods, most have little proven benefit, and some may even be harmful.

In summary, your penis size falls well within the normal range, and there is no reason for concern.

I hope this helps you.

Kind regards.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The penis consists of two parts: the external portion, which is visible outside the body, and the internal portion, which extends into the pelvis and is attached to the underlying bony structures. The internal portion is several inches long and can only be measured accurately using certain imaging techniques.

However, when people refer to penile length, they are usually referring to the external penile length, not the total anatomical length. To measure the external penile length correctly, the measurement should not start from the surface of the skin over the pubic area or scrotum. Instead, the ruler should be pressed firmly against the pubic bone, compressing any overlying soft tissue, and the measurement taken from that point to the tip of the penis.

This is particularly important in men who are overweight or obese, as excess fat in the pubic area can partially conceal the penis, a condition sometimes referred to as a "buried penis." In such cases, the visible portion may appear significantly shorter than the actual penile length. Depending on the amount of tissue in this area, a properly performed measurement may reveal additional length.

If your only concern is penis size, I would not be concerned based on the measurements you have described. However, if there are other issues that are bothering you, those would need to be discussed separately.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
