Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My nephew is 13 years old, weighs 45 kg, and his height is 135 cms. He sometimes becomes so angry and beats his younger brother and sometimes when things are not given to him, he becomes angry and tells he wants to go out of the house. He likes only his father and not anyone else. We went to a doctor, and she suggested to take medication for that and gave Lonazep 0.25 mg and Sizodon MD 50 mg. He took that for two days. There were effective but were raising his body temperature, and he tells that something is happening in his head. We gave him those medicines without his knowledge, saying that, it is for concentration. I need to know whether he needs medicine or he can be treated through counseling. Also, is this effect because of the medicines he had taken?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I would have answered the query more appropriately if you had included a little more information regarding his day to day activities, his academic performance, his peer relationship, etc. Anyways, regarding your query, it can be due to sibling rivalry, or it could be due to adjustment problems or even due to any diagnosable childhood psychiatric problem.

If the above problems are just a part of growing up, then psychotherapeutic sessions might be helpful for your nephew. But if these symptoms are due to any underlying psychiatric illness, he might need a psychiatric consultation. About the medicines, the increase in temperature due to medicine is quite unlikely. But yes, it can cause heaviness in the head, which can be perceived as something happening in the head.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
