Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

What is the best option for skin discoloration? I have had a few laser treatments, but it does not seem to be working. I am not sure if it is sun damage or melasma, but it definitely got much worse after having a baby last year. I had a total skin rejuvenation laser treatment three times. It seems to be helping with my fine lines, but it has not touched the skin discoloration. I am getting frustrated and running out of money. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your concern is melasma, that is, pigmentation due to photosensitivity. It can be reduced but cannot be removed. All procedures will be temporary. So, never depend on any procedures for removing the pigmentation. We can reduce the pigmentation and can be maintained. I suggest you try the following:

  1. Biluma (Kojic acid) cream, twice daily on the patch.
  2. Photo screen sunscreen during the day.
  3. Glogeous (Glycolic acid and Aloe vera) face wash, twice daily.
  4. Think about glycolic peels, they help you in reducing the pigmentation swiftly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
