Can an orchiepididymitis cause fertility issues?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old male in general good health who is not taking any medication. I suffered from unilateral orchiepididymitis five years ago and fully recovered. I recently did a semen analysis where all the values were fine except progressive motility, which was 26 percent (82 percent below the WHO guideline). Should I be worried about my fertility? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is nothing to worry about. The condition is termed asthenozoospermia (reduced sperm motility). The reference values for sperm analysis were changed multiple times. It is important to see the whole picture, and that looks fine. So, there is no reason for anxiety. The sperm quality is a catastrophe on the sheet.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
