Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 27-year-old and was recently diagnosed with prolonged bleeding. My thyroid test came normal, and prolactin was a bit higher. My gynecologist said it was fine and I should get tested again in six months. She prescribed Progesterone for six days, the first three days thrice a day, and the next three days twice daily. After that, my doctor told me to start Femilon for 21 days. It has been more than 15 days, and there has been spotting for the last two to three days. I see fresh blood and also cramps. Should I be worried? I am not sexually active for seven to eight months. Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is imperative that you take tab Femilon (Desogestrel) at a fixed time each day, else spotting per vaginum is inevitable. Also evident from your tests is that you have vitamin D3 and vitamin B12 deficiency and hence their supplementation is required as well. Just continue Femilon on time and your bleeding shall stop as well and if it does then you may require antifibrinolytics to control or stop the bleed.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hey doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have been taking medicine at the same time almost every day. The maximum delay that has happened is 30 minutes. I have also started taking supplements for vitamin B12 and vitamin D3. My physician also suggested having iron tablets for two months.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

In that case, wait three days to allow bleeding to stop naturally; if it does not, you can opt for antifibrinolytics for bleeding control. Do not stop Femilon (Desogestrel) in the middle; keep continuing it.

I hope the information will help.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
