Is it normal to spot pink color in the cervical mucus after taking an Ovaral D tablet for 14 days?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am using an Ovaral D tablet and today is the 14th day of being on the pill. I observed a light pink spot in the cervical mucus. May I know is this normal?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I do not see that as a symptom to worry about. As long as you are taking the pills daily without fail, you are safe and the cycle is under your control. Preferably try to take the pills daily at the same time, so that you do not forget. By chance you vomited within an hour or two of taking the pill, take another pill after vomiting as settled. Ovaral -G (Estrogen and Progesterone) contains hormones, which are produced in your body. It will not allow ovulation to occur if you take it every day without fail. But at the same time, it will act on other parts of the body too. As in a normal cycle without pills, you will have this hormone acting on the cervix during periods, and around mid-cycle, the secretions increase and you may have a pink color or even a drop of blood. This same feature is exaggerated when you take Ovaral -G. If you are sexually active & if this discharge changes to yellow or grey with itching or foul smell, then it would mean infection and you need to meet a gynecologist who will examine you and give you vaginal and oral medications to remove the infection. These are normal changes you are seeing, do not worry. I hope I have cleared your query.

Thank you.
