Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

In recent days, food is making me sick. I feel a lot of air and soreness in the stomach. I am often belching. When I consulted a doctor, he said that my stomach was fine. I have attached the reports of gastroscopy of the stomach and duodenum. Could the area that I have marked blue, be an ulcer? Kindly give your opinion on the reports. Also, I had antral gastritis two years ago.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The surrounding area is a clean-based ulcer in the body of the stomach.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for replying.

What does clean-based ulcer mean? Is it a type of ulcer? And, do other tissues look inflamed?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Gastric ulcers are classified according to Forrest's classification, in which clean-based ulcer means the margin of the ulcer is clean, and there is no blood clot or bleeding vessel. Depending upon the appearance of the ulcer we can predict the risk of bleeding. Usually, clean-based ulcers have a low risk of bleeding. Mild inflammation is seen in the surrounding tissues.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
