Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I suddenly experienced an upset stomach with just a semi-solid consistency of stool a few days back. However, a day later, I found that I had the urge to pee more often than usual immediately after emptying my bladder. I am 40 years old and my last period was a month back. I have no pain while urinating. However, this sudden new symptom has caused me to be very anxious. I also have some PMS symptoms like muscle aches and so on. What to do?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sometimes urine symptoms can happen whenever there is an altered stool pattern. If there is any problem in stool passage, it may reflect as a burning sensation or frequency of urine as the nerve supply to both areas is the same. In case there is no fever, and the stomach is still upset, you can start with a probiotic like Econorm sachet (Saccharomyces boulardii) twice a day for three days. If symptoms persist beyond two to three days, then get a urine routine test, an ultrasound KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder), and revert. A short course of antibiotics like Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice a day for three days and Solifenacin 5 mg once a day for five days can be started after consultation with your general practitioner.

Hope it helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
