Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have attached my cervical spine MRI (magnetic resonance image) report only the images are added. I was having pain in back head, back side neck, and upper back shoulder like some tense feeling since one year. I consulted numerous doctors, earlier it was diagnosed as tension headache but it reoccured after recovering. Then one neurosurgeon said that my MRI report you have straightened cervical spine which is causing tension headache which makes sense to me because I have poor sleeping posture. Then I went to another neurosurgeon he said that I do not have a straighten cervical spine. Report is normal and headache is because of anxiety which makes sense to me. I am very anxious and confused. Can any expert neurosurgeon examine and tell whether I have straighten cervical spine or not? And what is causing the pain is it spine straightening or anxiety? Kindly help.

I read your query and understand your concern. Kindly give me sometime. I need to open and see your MRI(magnetic resonance image) report (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). I will revert you back in a while.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen your MRI. Basically, you do not have normal lordosis in the cervical spine. So, you can say that there is a straightening of the cervical spine. But, on top of that, there is syrinx in your spinal cord. Now what is the reason for that? Could you please send me radiologist's written report for this MRI? Send me the prescription papers of both neurosurgeons whom you have consulted. I want to see their notes to know, if anything they have found while clinically examining you? I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Kindly check and evaluate the attached report. I really got worried when you said syrinx. I was scared, I have one fluid cyst below my left ear from many years. My ENT specialist said it is okay we will leave it and no need to worry about, if the size does not increases.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Kindly do not get scared. My aim is to rule out any possible cause, if any, for your pain. I am surprised that report (attachment removed to protect patient's identity) has not mentioned anything. I would suggest you to go to the same center where MRI is done. Ask them to report again, as you have been told that there is possibility of syrinx. Also, I would suggest you to get a fresh MRI of cervical spine as this MRI is four months old. If the size of syrinx is increasing, then it is worrisome and if it same or reducing, then nothing to do. I have asked for a neurosurgeons prescription which you have not sent. I want to see their findings and their clinical examination notes. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
