Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am overweight and face irregular periods even after taking Regestrone tablet. However, I had oral sex last month and nothing more, so can that be the reason for my periods to stop? Please help me find a solution.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the details and fully understand your concern. I suggest you to tell me since when you started taking Regestrone (Norethindrone)? How was the flow, and how long was your last period? How long was your cycle with the Regestrone dose? If you had oral sex, there is no chance of pregnancy, so do not worry. Your height, weight, and BMI (body mass index) are on the slightly higher side, so try to be more active. Do not exercise and reduce weight. The reason for the delay in period is pregnancy-related stress and not pregnancy. Stress alone is responsible for delays in periods of almost 25 % of females worldwide. So, do not take unnecessary stress. Stay happy and cheerful. Eat healthy food and stay active. You will be fine. I suggest you do a urine pregnancy test, which will probably help you reduce stress. Also, let me know the details I have requested above. We could consider taking medicines if you did not get your period by next weekend. Also, self-confidence is important, and do not call yourself overweight. You will be able to reduce weight with diet and exercise. Kindly feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

Take care, and God bless.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been taking Regestrone for the past two years, every two months, because I always have irregular periods. My last period was very complicated. Also, I took Regestrone last month. Kindly help me.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for the additional details shared by you. Your last period was at the beginning of the previous month, and then you started with medicines. Kindly understand that there is nothing to worry about, and please relax. Any cycle of 28 days is perfect. However, anything from 21 to 40 days is also fine, so do not panic and stress out. Also, you only had oral sex, and there is no chance of pregnancy. Stress will interfere with your normal periods and not let the medicine work properly. I hope this has helped you.

Take care, and God bless.
