Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been getting repeated skin infections for the last eight to nine months on the back of my thighs. Please suggest medications for permanent resolving skin infections. I have attached a photograph. I had a similar type of infection on the thighs previously, but it was cured two years back, and now there is no infection on other body parts. I currently applied Luliconazole cream on the portion, but it reappeared after a few days.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through the image attached (attachment removed to preserve the patient's identity). The skin lesion is tinea corporis; it is a fungal infection. You will need at least four to six weeks of antifungal course for permanent clearance. Also, get a liver function test done three weeks after starting the treatment. I would suggest you Capsule Syntran (Itraconazole)100 mg twice daily after food for three weeks, Tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg once daily after dinner for three weeks, KZ (Ketoconazole) soap for bath twice daily, C-win (Ciclopirox) 1 % w/w creams, apply twice daily over the patches after bath. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and then take the medicines with their consent. Keep a regular follow-up after three weeks. I would also suggest the following preventive measures; take a bath twice daily, completely wipe dry after bath, prefer loose-fitting clothes, do not wear wet clothes, do not share your soap and towel with others, wash your clothes and innerwear separately in hot water.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
