Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have ear tinnitus effect. There is continuous multifrequency sound persisting on which sometimes one particular frequency tone becomes significant for few seconds. Doctor told there is no cure and I have to live with it. Is there any remedy to ease it? I heard something like acoustic neuromodulation can help to cure it. Is Ginkgo biloba can ease ringing in ear with tinnitus effect. It is more neurological issue than ear. I was on Cipralex - Escitalopram for 4 years after withdrawal it really bothers me. Kindly advice.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com. Tinnitus is bothersome and unfortunately sometime it is difficult to treat. Have you had hearing testing and any sensorineural hearing loss? Also is this tinnitus only heard by you or physician also able to hear it? Reason being if it is objective tinnitus listened by physician, then it is usually due to underlying pathology in inner ear or vascular which can be cured. Also have you been tested for frequency of your tinnitus? Acoustic neuromodulation is helpful and have shown positive results. You could try this option. Studies have shown Ginkgo is not effective for tinnitus.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
So far, there has been no significant hearing loss. Both side ear frequency responses are near to normal graph. Hearing test done so many times, but no doctor could check tinnitus or ringing frequency. Sound is self perception. How doctor could hear that one? No doctor tried to do that so far. So, I do not know about it.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com. With your description it seems it is a subjective tinnitus which is difficult to treat. You can see your ear nose and throat (ENT) specialist in person and get evaluation.
