Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26 years old male. I have been masturbating for the past seven years. I do not have any problem with that. But my penis foreskin is not retractable. It closes the head in both erect and flaccid positions. I see a slighter portion of the penis head, maybe the size of the diameter of the thumb finger. Apart from that, I cannot pull my foreskin. I do not see any pain or uncomfortable because of the non-retraction during masturbation. Is this an issue? Will this not allow me to have intercourse post marriage? I thought this would retract after some time. I tried searching on the internet about this all I see is you cannot have intercourse with foreskin tight. You need surgery. Now I am super scared. Kindly assist, please.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

For how long you have this problem that you cannot retract the foreskin? Based on your complaint, it is most likely that the diagnosis is phimosis. Is there any other problem? Local treatment like the application of steroid ointment could be effective before surgery. Please answer the questions to guide you appropriately.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

I do not have any other problem. I was able to masturbate with no pain. I have not retracted till now. This is issue is there since I started masturbating. As you say, it is phimosis. I searched on the internet, and people say it is that something that I can get rid of by some exercise or creams. Is that true? I have not retracted my foreskin ever in my lifetime. Will this affect my sexual life? Kindly give your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Normally we can retract the foreskin as we grow. However, as you do not have any symptoms, there will be an accumulation of normal secretions under the skin, which could progress to inflammation. Which in normal individuals gets washed away during bathing and other personal hygiene ways. If any such thing happens, this might then affect your sexual life. So better get checked it out. Local steroid ointment has been proved efficacious in treating this condition. I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

I usually apply soaps inside the foreskin and clean it. Then, I pour warm water to get that cleaned. I also spray water through my shower faucet to have some force of water flow. Kindly give your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Continue the same as it helps in cleaning. While doing this, be very gentle and try to retract it without any pain or discomfort if possible (remember, as I stated, very gentle pull). As I mentioned in the above chat, you can apply local ointment to improve this adherence of foreskin. I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you,

Do I need to try retracting daily? How long may it take to retract? Please give your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, do it while cleaning and bathing, and if there is any discomfort or pain while gentle pull, do not proceed further. If the adherence is severe, you have to go for a medical treatment option, and it fails, then a surgical option can be done. Please do not delay in seeking any medical advice regarding it. You can show this problem to a general physician or surgeon because local examination gives a more precise idea of the treatment guidance needed. I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please feel free to ask any doubts.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can I have intercourse with a tight foreskin? Or is this an issue? Please give your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

With tight foreskin, intercourse could result in pain and also less pleasurable. So it is better advised to wear condoms and use lubricants to avoid friction-induced damage during penetration. Also, please meet a local doctor or surgeon and get the treatment properly before this. I hope this was helpful.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you

Then I will consult a local doctor on the same soon.
