Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have type 2 diabetes for the past five years and take Insulin shots daily. I would like to know in which conditions doctors insist on limb amputation. I am asking this because I often forget to take the shots and then become afraid if it might lead to an amputation. Please brief.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion. I have read your query and have understood your concern. A decision for amputation is not on the basis of blood sugar levels but, on the severity of complications. However, even controlled sugar levels can lead to complications that may warrant amputations. In order to keep sugar levels in check you have to use Insulin as suggested by your doctor. Do not discontinue on your own. Skipping Insulin for a few days can shoot up sugar levels. Consult your doctor and follow the advice. Hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
