Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Yesterday, I and my wife had unprotected intercourse and we are not planning for a child. I made sure not to ejaculate inside her and I pulled out in time but we are worried about the effects of pre-ejaculation if that might cause pregnancy. Her period this month completed a few days ago and waiting for a month seems too long. I-pill was my choice but after learning about the side effects am wondering if there is another way to find out if she is pregnant or should we just go for the pill?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From day 1 to 10 of the period, it is a safe period. There is no chance of pregnancy as there is no ovulation happening during this period. So if you had intercourse during your safe period, there is no chance of pregnancy. Also, you say that you have followed a withdrawal method. So relax and do not worry. However, if you have a doubt then take an emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of intercourse. There is no chance of pregnancy. The side effects of the pills are minimal and temporary. However, if you have a doubt then get back to me. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

As you have mentioned about 10 days, I just want to let you know that her periods had started on 11th and stopped on 16th and we had the intercourse yesterday, that is the 17th. So that should not be any problem I guess, right?
