Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have missed my pills for five days. I had unprotected sex in the two days when I have missed the pills. What are the chances of getting pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for writing in, and I understand your concern.

According to your statement, you have a history of missing birth control pills for the last five days and unprotected sexual intercourse during this period.

You could become pregnant if you have a history of unprotected sex during the days of the missed pills. But it depends on safe periods and danger periods. If the sexual intercourse happens during your safe periods, then you will not become pregnant. But if it happens during danger periods, it increases your chances of getting pregnant. The ninth day from the last day of your last menstrual cycle to the sixteenth day of your last menstrual cycle, a total of seven days is known as the danger period. During danger periods, unprotected sexual intercourse will make you pregnant. The rest 21 days of your 28 days cycle are considered safe periods. During these periods, unprotected sexual intercourse may not make you pregnant.

Take care. Let me know if I can assist you further.
