Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My girlfriend and I had unprotected sex for the first time, and we both lost our virginity, but I am sure I did not ejaculate sperms in her vagina during sex. We had sex yesterday, but after four to five hours of sex, she had vaginal bleeding, and today also she had the bleeding again. So what does this indicate, and how should we know if she must take an anti-pregnancy pill? If yes, then which medication is safe for her? And if there is any infection or something like that, kindly suggest some medicines if possible.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The bleeding that she is experiencing just after the intercourse is basically due to a rupture of the hymen and is a normal procedure. This bleeding usually stops within one to two days. As far as pregnancy is concerned, you should take emergency contraception simultaneously, and it usually protects and has a high success rate of 98 %.

Thank you.
