Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 30-year-old. I had unprotected intercourse, and the same day I took Unwanted 72, and on the twentieth of next month, my menses was due, but it did not occur. I did a pregnancy test which was positive. So I took Mifty Kit. Then from the second, bleeding started, and some blood clots along with some other thing came out, which was not like a blood clot. Since yesterday evening, there was no bleeding, so today morning, I did a home pregnancy test, and it was positive. So I want to know how I can be sure if pregnancy termination was successful? Please guide and what further measure can I take to be assured that there is no pregnancy left. Kindly guide me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) remains elevated up to 10 to 15 days after the abortion. The presence of hCG is tested using a urine pregnancy test. Hence checking immediately after bleeding (post Mifty Kit (Mifepristone and Misoprostol)) will show a positive urine pregnancy test. To confirm immediately, you have to get a pelvic or abdominopelvic scan. If you do not mind waiting, you can repeat the pregnancy test after two weeks. But I would recommend you get a scan as it is the only sure-shot way of knowing if the abortion has occurred and if it was complete.

I hope this was helpful.
