Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old woman, and I think that I have developed a urinary tract infection. I had a sexual interaction two weeks ago, and I started experiencing symptoms the next day. I have had frequent urination tendencies with a burning sensation. I have been drinking lots of water for the past few days, and some symptoms have been resolved. But now I am mostly experiencing pelvic and lower back pain. Does this mean that my urinary tract infection is getting worse?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, urinary tract infections (UTIs) can occur after sexual intercourse. Its symptoms include burning pain during urination, urinary urgency, and increased urine frequency. Some tests can confirm it. You can start the medicines after submitting the urine sample. I suggest you do the following tests.

1. Ultrasound of the kidney, uterus, and bladder with pre and post-void volume.

2. Complete urine examination.

3. Urine culture sensitivity.

Please follow up after doing these tests. But, until then, you can follow these measures.

1. Increase water intake.

2. Do not hold urine.

(Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.)

3. Tablet Eperisone (Eperisone Hydrochloride) one tablet at night for one week.

4. Cranberry extract sachet (one sachet in the morning and night) for one week.

5. Capsule Cefixime 400 mg, one capsule in the morning for one week.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
