Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had gone through IUI on 17 days before that is on the 14th day of menstrual cycle. Yesterday onwards I am getting thick brown bleeding with less flow. Now, I am near my period date. I am also having slight pain and cramping near my lower abdomen and back pain. I am confused whether I am pregnant or not. What should I do now? I am on Susten 300 and Real fol-D. Shall I continue my medicines in the current situation?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It can be the start of your periods. But, a blood test called beta hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) needs to be done to rule out ectopic pregnancy just in case as you have cramps in the abdomen. Susten (Progesterone) should be taken only for 10 to 14 days after IUI (intrauterine insemination), so now it should be stopped ideally. It is a progesterone drug, which supports pregnancy in case pregnancy occurs after IUI. There is no use of Susten if you get full-fledged periods by tomorrow. If you do not get periods, then get beta hCG done. Consult your gynecologist in any case, and a clinical examination is required.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
