What could be the reason for intermittent burning and itching sensations around the vaginal area for the past three months?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have noticed a burning and itching sensation around the vaginal area. It has been going on for about three months, which comes and goes. However, it gets really bad after I have sex. I have not had sex for about two weeks, and the pain does not go away. I took a picture and noticed red, raw dots. I am nervous. Is it STD? Please let me know what you think.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query, and it is better to have the following investigations as the condition has been there for three months:
- Urine culture sensitivity.
- Urine analysis.
- High vaginal swabs.
- Local examination that might need skin scrapping from the lesions or swabs or biopsy.
My advice:
Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.
- Take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg, 12 hourly.
- Take the tablet Metronidazole 400 mg every eight hours for seven days.
- Try to avoid the local application of chemicals and cosmetics.
- Try to sit in warm water for relief.
- Use condoms to avoid infection transmission.
- Follow strict hygiene.
- Wear soft, comfortable undergarments.
- Have lots of water and cranberry juice.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
