Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18 year old female. I have been experiencing extreme vaginal discomfort and pain. It hurts whenever my partner tries to do anything sexual. We have not had sex, but done other things such as fingering. It burns when I urinate and I get a green/ yellow discharge that smells like vinegar. I also get sharp pains through my vagina sometimes. What do you think this could be? I currently take the combined pill and have been for about three weeks now.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are suffering from a vaginal infection, mostly a protozoal infection. You have already taken antibiotics for the urine infection. So, maintain proper hygiene when you have sex. That is, proper washing of the area. If not, that leads to infection. I suggest:

  1. Tablet Metrogyl (Metronidazole) 400 mg twice a day for five days.
  2. Tablet Itracoe (Itraconazole) 200 mg once a day for four days.
  3. Candid CL (Clindamycin and Clotrimazole) vaginal pessary for six days.
  4. V-wash gel for cleaning twice a day.
  5. Avoid sex till the infection is controlled.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
