What are the causes of vaginal burning and redness?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I experience vaginal burning and redness. What is the problem, and what should I do?

Answered by Dr. Uzma Arqam

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

  1. I suggest taking a vaginal swab and PAP (Papanicolaou) smear. In the meantime, I suggest taking tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for one week and tab Metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily for one week. However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.
  2. If you feel better, you can stop taking antibiotics.
  3. Try to lose weight by exercising, yoga, or daily walking for good health.
  4. Avoid consuming alcohol and tobacco.
  5. I hope this helps.

    Thank you and take care.
