Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have noticed a burning and itching sensation around the vaginal area. It has been going on for about three months, which comes and goes. However, it gets really bad after I have sex. I have not had sex for about two weeks, and the pain does not go away. I took a picture and noticed red, raw dots. I am nervous. Is it STD? Please let me know what you think.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query, and it is better to have the following investigations as the condition has been there for three months:

  1. Urine culture sensitivity.
  2. Urine analysis.
  3. High vaginal swabs.
  4. Local examination that might need skin scrapping from the lesions or swabs or biopsy.

My advice:

Consult a specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

  1. Take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg, 12 hourly.
  2. Take the tablet Metronidazole 400 mg every eight hours for seven days.
  3. Try to avoid the local application of chemicals and cosmetics.
  4. Try to sit in warm water for relief.
  5. Use condoms to avoid infection transmission.
  6. Follow strict hygiene.
  7. Wear soft, comfortable undergarments.
  8. Have lots of water and cranberry juice.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
