Does swollen and itchy vagina after intercourse indicate vaginitis in me?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from a swollen and itchy vagina for two days after sexual intercourse. No lubricant was used, and there was no excessive rubbing. I used an ice pack, but it gave temporary relief. I have no STD, and my partner has no such symptoms.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.

Your symptoms suggest vaginitis; it is mainly due to a fungal infection. Keep the area dry and clean, drink a lot of warm water, have a soft diet, and use antifungal medicine and cream for application.
