Is the burning sensation around the pelvic region accompanied by whitish cheese-like discharge and pelvic pain due to some serious disorder?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have never had penetrating sex, just fingering pretty much. I have been having burning sensations around my pelvic region and my vagina and a whitish cheeselike discharge. Should I be worried? I have been having pelvic pains.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If you have been just fingering around the vagina, it can lead to vaginitis. You may have the pelvic inflammatory disease if you have long-time white discharge. Basically, vaginal chlamydia and candidiasis combined infection are common. And if you have pain along with itching, then it is highly possible.

I suggest you take the following medications on the advice of your physician:

  1. Candid-B (Clotrimazole) vaginal tablets for six days.
  2. Tablets like Metronidazole 200 mg for seven days three times a day and less acidic fruits, drink more water.

Keep the vaginal area as dry as possible. No fingering or intercourse. If you are on your period, then change pads more frequently. If it is not decreasing, then you may need a culture of vaginal discharge and antibiotics accordingly. Less oily and spicy food.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

But I have not had penetrating sex, and I recently took the HPV vaccine. Is it something to be worried about?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Sex is not the only reason to have vaginitis. Bad reproductive hygiene is the main reason behind vaginosis, vaginitis, and UTI (urinary tract infection). It looks like you have all this in combination. But it will cure. Not much to worry about. Every nine out of ten females has this problem once a year, so do not worry. If the vaginal area is kept wet, then there is more chance of candidiasis. If you have dark urine, then there is an increased chance of UTI. Fingering or dry sex increases the chances of vaginitis. But it will be under control. Just keep the precautions in mind to avoid recurrence.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks a lot doctor.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Always Welcome. Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I also have another question. I did a scan that showed minimal discharge in my POD. Please, what does that mean, even if I am not sexually active?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your query.

Minimal fluid in POD (pouch of Douglas) can normally be in the middle of the cycle or can be due to pelvic inflammatory disease. But it is the last thing that we will suspect if it is not controlled within 15 days with medicines. But if other things in the scan are normal, then there is no need to fear immediately with fluid in POD.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

My period is almost due. Everything else is normal except for minimal fluid. I was advised to go for a swab. Although they said, it may be because my period is soon to come.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Before periods also, there may be some fluid. As I said can send discharge for further investigation. Sometimes we send swabs from the cervix to find out about infection. We sometimes do pap smear tests. If this all happened the first time, then it is best to take medicines, wait for 15 days, and follow the precautions.

Hope I have answered your query.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I cannot do a pap smear test because I have not been penetrated. The last time I tried to do it. They almost wounded my vagina. I had to stop.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

That is why I did not suggest it because it is less likely to be cervicitis without penetration.

Hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.
