My doctor,

My wife is pregnant and this is her third month. During vomiting, she noticed blood. What is the reason? Kindly suggest me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. It's uncommon for a pregnant woman to experience vomiting with blood. This could be attributed to excessive and repeated vomiting, which might lead to tears in the esophagus, resulting in blood in the vomit. Should hematemesis persist and signs of reduced perfusion, such as cold extremities, dizziness, and low blood pressure, arise, it's advisable to seek consultation with a gastroenterologist.

Possible causes include vomiting-induced esophageal ulcers or tears, as well as acute gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). To gather more information, consider conducting a complete blood panel (CBP), an ultrasound of the abdomen, and consulting a gastroenterologist for an upper GI endoscopy.

As a treatment approach, consider taking Doxinate-P (Doxylamine and Pyridoxine) thrice daily. Addressing these concerns with appropriate medical guidance is crucial to ensuring both the mother's and baby's well-being during pregnancy.
