Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a WBC count of 11.2 and neutrophils are 7.8. Also, my hemoglobin is 17.8 and hematocrit 51.8. Is that serious? Please advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have recently done CBC (complete blood count) and revealed that WBC (white blood cells) 11.2, neutrophils 7.8, hemoglobin 17.8, and hematocrit 51.8.

Your WBC, neutrophils, hemoglobin, and hematocrit are slightly raised. I think your CBC report has no serious abnormalities. Any type of infection or stress can cause such type of clinical results.

Do repeat your CBC report after one month.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is there a chance for cancer? Also, I smoke regularly. So, please let me know if it can be cancer?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I assure you that you have no cancer. Slightly raised hemoglobin count may occur commonly when your body needs increased oxygen-carrying capacity due to smoking or living at a high altitude and your body starts to produce excess red blood cells to compensate for the lower oxygen supply.

Again raised WBC count may result from any type of bacterial or viral infections, inflammation, physical or emotional stress, injuries, burns, fever etc. Neutrophils count also may increase for the same causes as WBC and most common causes for raised hematocrit are dehydration, polycythemia, etc.

Do you have unexplained fever for a long time, history of weight loss, night sweating, sudden change of bowel habits, loss of appetite or requiring prolonged healing time? I think your reply will be no, then how can you suffer from cancer?

One slightly abnormal blood picture can never indicate cancer. Do repeat your CBC report after one month in these periods. Take Vitamin C enriched foods or supplements and citrus fruits along with doing some exercise regularly.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
