Hi doctor,

I have pain in the lower jaw due to a horizontal wisdom tooth. The tooth is completely horizontal. The pain comes and goes on and off. It is a bearable pain. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I saw your attachment (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). Lower wisdom teeth are completely horizontal on both sides, and I understand you must be in severe pain. I would suggest you go for extraction of both the teeth as soon as possible. Delaying may cause malocclusion in the lower jaw.

Meanwhile, you can do a warm salt water rinse five to six times a day, and I would suggest a pain killer or anti-inflammatory (Ibuprofen) medicine.

Hi doctor,

Other than malocclusion, are there any serious problems if I do not extract it? And also, one of my upper row teeth (third teeth from the back, on my left side) just got a filling. It was quite a deep tooth decay. The dentist filled it, but it is still sensitive to water, is there an infection?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The sensitivity in the filled teeth will go away with time. It happens initially. There is no other problem with the horizontal wisdom teeth, just that may be you will be in pain on and off because of them.
