Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a doubt if a part of a broken wisdom tooth is being pushed out naturally, which is still painful with mild bleeding. What could a person do to take care of the gum and prevent infection if an immediate dental visit is not possible?

Please give me your suggestions.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

From your description, it looks more like irreversible pulpitis of the third molar. So kindly upload an image of the broken wisdom tooth to get an exact idea of what has happened, and I will suggest the management needed to resolve it completely and ease your pain and discomfort. Unfortunately, infections are more common, so I need to see the pictures first for clarity.

However, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Take capsule Sporidex 500 mg (Cephalexin), one capsule daily for five days.

2. Take tablets Ibuprofen (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug), one tablet twice daily for five days.

3. Take capsule Omeprazole (antacid) one capsule twice daily before meals for five days.

4. Use Betadine (Povidone-iodine) mouthwash, and gargle with lukewarm water two to three times a day. These medications will help your current situation. But without knowing the current status of the tooth, management can be challenging.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

Kindly upload the image for further management.

Take care.
