Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got a big deep cut on the leg from a metal and got four stitches on that part. I got dressing of the wound on alternate days. On the sixth day, there formed a little pus around the wound. The stitches are expected to be removed on the eighth day. Although the doctor gave antibiotics now and said not to worry. I am worried. What to do? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. First, calm down. You are being treated adequately.

1. Deep cut from a metal is being correctly treated with antibiotics and wound dressing.

2. Pus is due to infection of stitches and not the wound itself.

3. Keeping good local hygiene, applying Betadine and wound dressing will help ease the pus.

4. I think they have given tetanus shot within 48 hours of getting the deep cut. So, you are protected and correctly treated. Just take a bit more care for wound cleaning and antiseptic measures.

Yes, it would be great if you can send a picture of the wound when you change the wound dressings.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
