Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter has acne on her face for the past one month. I think that is hormonal acne because it is in her chin and jawline as per my knowledge. She is taking Cabergoline .25 mg per week for an increased level of prolactin as prescribed by an endocrinologist for the past three years. There is no acne on her face for the last three years but now suddenly it appears on the face. Sometimes it is white and small and it often occurs on a daily basis. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the history and prescription you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Honestly speaking, I cannot understand what is written in the prescription. Can you send me a picture of individual medication so that I can get an idea of what is she taking? It will be of great help to guide you further with new medicines and creams.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Prescription:-

1. Tablet Azithromycin daily.

2. Nadifloxacin gel.

3. Becozym.

4. Osmohex.

My daughter is having whiteheads on her chin and jawline, it has been there for more than one month, and it is increasing day by day and the pain is also there for a few days. Pimples with pus and whiteheads all over the face are increasing.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Better to change oral as well as topical antibiotics. We need to start higher antibiotics cream and tablets along with painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs. Is it possible for you to send me an actual picture of her acne lesions so that I can get an idea about severity? This will be more helpful in deciding higher antibiotics.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I want to know if it is a hormonal problem or not? The medicine you will be prescribing would be fine to take if it is a hormonal issue?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. I have gone through the images you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It is basically a hormonal problem which is having a secondary bacterial infection. So antibiotics will definitely reduce these swellings.

So start capsule Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg 1-0-1, tablet Doxycyclin 100 mg 1-0-1, and Clindamycin cream for local application thrice daily. Take all these for seven days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
