Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have struggled with severe acne since I was a child. I am currently in my late 20s and still struggle with it. I have tried different ways to manage my acne, but nothing has worked. I have come to realize that I have really sensitive skin, and I need help with having clear skin once and for all. At present, I have a few pimples and other pimples that used to be on my face have healed, but they have left dark marks. Which skin care products do you recommend for sensitive skin? Will the skin products clear my post-acne marks?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Pimple is somewhat hormonal and due to oily skin. I suggest you follow these steps.

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust and use sunscreen above 30 SPF (sun protection factor).

4. Do not rub cream on the face.

5. Do not use a cream containing steroids.

6. Continue treatment for at least one month.

7. Facewash or soap is not helpful in reducing acne.

8. Do not touch acne and avoid pressing it.

I suggest you undergo the following treatment. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take the medicine with their consent.

  1. Apply Clindamycin gel ( Clinton or Faceclin clear gel) on the face every morning. It is a preventive and curative treatment for acne.
  2. Apply Adapalene gel ( Adalene or Differin) over acne at night.
  3. Take tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.
  4. Post-acne scars are of three types: box scars, icepick (pinpoint scars), and rolling scars. Pinpoint scars are difficult to treat while box scars are easy. Creams or tablets can not resolve scars. For treating post-acne scars, I suggest you follow these steps.

    1. CO2 (carbon dioxide) fractional laser and subcision is the best procedure for clearing acne scars. It takes five to six sitting, but the results are better than any other procedure.
    2. Dermaroller and subcision can also treat acne scars but are less effective than the above treatment.
    3. Treatment with filler provides a masking effect by filling the pits and giving an impression of fullness. The treatment does not last permanently.
    4. Chemical peels can be performed effectively if scars are not prominent.
    5. All procedures take four to six sitting and five to six months for obtaining better results.

I hope your query was resolved.

      Kind regards.
