Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having cough only when the weather is cold. I had visited a hospital in my native. They did few tests, but nothing abnormal was found. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Coughing when inhaling cold air is a normal phenomenon. If it is more than normal, this might be allergic. That is why all the tests that you have undergone are normal. If possible please send me your reports, get IgE levels done if not yet done. I would advise you to take steam inhalation and take tablet Montair Lc (combination of Levocetirizine and Montelukast) in the morning. Please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take medicines under consent.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am sending all the reports. Please go through them and advice me what to do next.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). All your reports are normal except the CT thorax which says mild consolidation. I would recommend you to consult a pulmonologist because consolidation needs to be investigated. There is no test for tuberculosis done. Get a Mantoux test done and also IgE levels because your eosinophil level is mildly elevated in total leukocyte count (TLC). If you are a smoker, do not smoke. I suggest you start with steam inhalation and tablet Montair Lc once daily and syrup Chericof (combination of Ambroxol, Guaifenesin and Levosalbutamol) two spoons thrice daily. Please consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take medicines with consent.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

They have done test for tuberculosis and the result was negative. Should I consult an ENT or pulmonologist? Because, I have seen a pulmonologist in my native, but he found nothing.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As per the reports, your paranasal sinus (PNS) x-ray is normal. However, the CT thorax has a finding. So, according to me, you should consult a pulmonologist because the report even says that consolidation has increased as compared to the earlier CT. So, most probably the cause is related to the lungs. According to me a second opinion from another chest expert is more important than going to an ENT because if they do not find anything, then an examination from an ENT specialist will be required.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
