Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For the past three days, I am having sniffles. But today morning, when I got up I found a small amount of blood spots in my cough. So please advise me what to do now? I never found this before.

I am currently taking Corectia, Glyciphase 500 mg, Ovipauz-L, and Aspirin gastro-resistant tablets.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The image that you sent (attachment removed to protect patient identity) shows brown rusty expectoration for which you need not worry. It is due to the capillary leak at the inflamed mucosa due to the medical condition.

Do you have a watery nose? Do you still sniffle? Do you have a sore throat, sneezing, itchy nose, tearing eyes, dry cough or history of allergies? If yes, do revert so that I can help you to control your sniffles.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have a watery nose a bit but not much sore throat and sneezing. I have an itchy nose but no tearing eyes and dry cough. No history of allergy but my ears are blocked for now.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

From the description above, you have allergic rhinitis with blocked nose. You need to take tablet Allegra in the day or Cetirizine in the night. You need to find out the allergen like dust, pets, smoke, pollution, fumes, etc., and avoid exposure. If you have a fever or long term trouble you should start antibiotics.

For blocked nose, take Nadivion or Otrivin nasal drops as and when required not more than a week at a stretch. You may use steam inhalation with few drops of Karvol plus or Nosikind plus mixed in it. Do salt water gargling and try syrup Grillinctus (Dextromethorphan hydrobromide, Chlorpheniramine maleate) for dry cough.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
