Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 17 years old and I have pain in the anal area and sometimes it causes a little bleeding while pooping. At times, it also causes pain and irritation while sitting. Are these symptoms of hemorrhoids or piles? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We are pleased to have you on board.

The symptoms are suggestive of fissure. You should visit a hospital for examination and the confirmation of the diagnosis. The main modality of treatment is to soften your stools. For that, you should eat a high-fiber diet that includes apples, bananas, oranges, green leafy vegetables like spinach, and raw cucumber. Avoid smoking, refined food, and fatty and oily foods. You should drink plenty of fluids and exercise regularly.

I suggest you take syrup like Lactulose 15 to30 ml (milliliter) at bedtime to maintain the softness of your stools. Secondly, you can use 2 % Lidocaine gel before passing stools to relieve the pain. Also, a sitz bath will be helpful. During a sitz bath, the anus is immersed in warm water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and this should be done two to three times daily. Sitz bath kits are available in most drugstores which contain potassium permanganate.

I hope you had a pleasant experience at icliniq.

Thank you.
