Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I need medication for a small lump in the anus area, which is a bit itchy. I have a history of hemorrhoids a year ago and have no recent bleeding.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You should start using Ispagol husk, two tablespoons full daily, in a glass of water. Take it regularly, it will soften your stools and help with your current symptoms.

Use Xylocaine 2% gel (lignocaine) over the anal canal with the help of a nozzle. Use atleast three times a day after finishing the bowel movement and cleaning thoroughly. Take tablet Albendazole 400 mg (antihelmintic) only once. This is an antiworm medication. This will eradicate any worms if causing itching in the anal area.

Let me know in a week, and update you about your symptoms. If no improvement, I would consider escalating the medicines. On follow up, if possible, share the picture of this anal area, as I can confirm what this lump is. Most likely seems to be hemorrhoids, given your history of the same.

The Probable causes

External hemorrhoids. Anal fissure.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

May I have a prescription for Xylocaine and Albendazole? It seems I can only get with a doctor's prescription in my country. I will update you in a week as soon as I manage to buy the medicines.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Actually, I am unable to write a prescription here. Since this prescription is not valid cross country wise. However, Xylocaine is over the counter, but Albendazole is not. For that, you need to contact your local GP to write it down for you.

If you are unable to get the prescription from your GP, in case, then at least start other treatment except for Albendazole.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
