Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 23 years old and have signs and symptoms of androgenic alopecia. I have severe hairline receding that resulted in a broader forehead now. And the hair in the crown and central hair region has become sparse and very thin. In addition, I have an itchy scalp with tiny bumps on it. But I never faced dandruff issues. My father is bald too. Is there a way to stop this? Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. It could be scalp folliculitis with a male pattern of hair loss. Kindly attach a clinical picture to assess so that I can guide you accordingly. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response. I am attaching the images of my scalp for your reference. Kindly help me with some medications and precautions to reduce the severity of the condition. I have been facing these issues for the past three years along with my weight loss journey. Although I sleep six to eight hours daily, it is not a sound sleep. Moreover, I remain stressed as I overthink. Can these too accelerate my male pattern baldness? What changes should I incorporate into my diet to resolve this? Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you to avoid stress and stay relaxed. However, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below. Apply Kevon Stay on lotion (Ketoconazole) 20 minutes before bath for 20 days, on the itchy areas of the scalp and dry areas of the face. Eat protein-rich food, which is essential for hair growth. Eat eggs, fish, curd, milk, lentils, pulses, chicken, walnuts, and almonds. Nutrition is the key to healthy hair. Take Perfectil plus (multivitamin and mineral supplement) capsule twice daily after food for one month. Apply Minoxidil 5 % (topical hair growth stimulant) lotion 1 ml daily at night for three months. Use Anaboom shampoo (Procapil) twice weekly for six weeks. Avoid oiling your scalp. Do not comb wet hair. Avoid hot showers. Eat papaya, carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, lemon, oranges, and avocado. Also, eat pineapple, kiwi, spinach, broccoli, whole grains, oats, fortified cereals, onions, cashew nuts, peanuts, etc. Drink seven to eight glasses of water daily. Get tested for levels of Hb (hemoglobin), serum ferritin, vitamin D, and serum TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. Kindly follow up with the reports.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply. I will follow up soon with the reports. I was curious whether to avoid oiling completely because I oil my hair regularly every two to three days. Moreover, I am a vegetarian and will follow the vegetarian alternatives you suggested. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You can oil your hair twice a week for 10 minutes before shampooing. However, avoid excess oil application as oil acts as food for dandruff. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
