Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
About three weeks ago, I was running, and my knee 'locked' up, and suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my right ankle, which got instantly swollen. I thought it was a sprain, so I used deep heat pads for the swelling and wore an ankle brace. But my problem is I cannot stand for long because my ankle is constantly paining and is always swollen. What could it be? Please suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your ankle seems to have a ligament sprain, which can be associated with some cartilage injury of the ankle, considering your weight. So I suggest you take the following medications, and if you do not get relief from pain, you will be required to do an MRI (magnetic resonance Imaging) of the right ankle. Meanwhile, you can take the following medications.
Tablet Piroxicam 20 mg at night for 15 days after food.
Tablet Rabeprazole (antacid) 20 mg at night 15 days after food.
Tablet vitamin C 500 mg in the morning for 15 days before food,
Tablet vitamin D 60,000 units once a week for eight weeks.
Also, wear an air cast ankle stirrup brace all day and while sleeping for at least six weeks. If the pain does not reduce after fifteen days, then you need to do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan.
Note: “ This professional advice I provided stands subject to the actual examination of the report or image and is based entirely on my inputs. It should be correlated with clinical findings.”
