Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is 32 years old. She is suffering from a psychological problem. She is always worried about small issues, and scared that something may always go wrong. She is too emotional and mentally weak, and tends to cry over everything. However, she is a loving and caring partner. Should I take her for a psychiatric consultation? Will that be helpful?

Please answer back.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

It was a good decision to take your wife to a psychiatrist. Your wife may be suffering from an anxiety disorder. There are various non-pharmacological way that will be helpful to manage this condition.

  1. She must exercise daily for atleast 30 to 45 minutes, or atleast go for a walk.
  2. She must practice meditation for 20 minutes daily by sitting comfortably in a quiet place, and try to concentrate on her breathing. Letting out all negative emotions and relax.
  3. She must consume healthy home-cooked food, and avoid junk food.
  4. She should have plenty of water and stay hydrated.
  5. She must spend quality time with her friends and family. Take up new creative hobbies like reading books on positivity, writing a journal, painting, drawing, learning a new skill or language, or a musical instrument.
  6. She must get good uninterrupted sleep of seven or eight hours daily.
  7. She must abstain from tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  8. Be confident and optimistic.

Follow this advice for four to six weeks, and observe if there are any changes in her behavior.

Also, I suggest your wife must undergo a few blood tests -

  1. CBC (complete blood count).
  2. Thyroid function tests.
  3. Vitmain B12 and D3 levels.

Kindly visit a specialist, talk to them about your concerns. They will help to diagnose her condition better and give appropriate treatment. I hope this has helped you out.

Thanks and regards.
