Patient's Query

Hello,

I went to the emergency room (ER) for pain under my ribs and back. They did all the cardiac tests, and all of them came out fine. A chest X-ray was also done. When I left the ER, they sent me the blood work they did. It showed a high lactate count of 4.86. I did some research but still not sure if I should be concerned. My current medications include Amitriptyline 10 mg for perceived irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), low dose statin, and Losartan.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I can understand your concern. Sir, the elevation of lactate is seen in acute illness. Various conditions can elevate lactate levels. The most common causes are excessive work on muscles (exercise) and difficulty in breathing. Please send me your reports. I will check and let you know. Also, tell me the current symptoms you are experiencing. Is there severe body ache? Please let me know.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
